چکیده

Abstract Background The greenhouse whitefly, Trialeurodes vaporariorum Westwood (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae) constitutes key pests of greenhouses and field crops, which have developed pesticide resistance over the years. It has emerged as a difficult pest to manage owing its indiscriminate exposure higher dosages insecticides. use natural enemies is environmentally safe alternative management tactic. Efficacy Encarsia formosa Gahan (Hymenoptera: Aphelinidae) was determined by studying biological characteristics on T. . Results Parasitization E. fourth-instar nymphs whitefly (GHWF) (37.2%), at par with that third instar (36.4%), both differing significantly parasitization observed in second (19.6%). Total developmental duration parasitoid longer (33.2 days) than fourth (29.9 days). Adult longevity found for adults from GHWF, absence host. size different instars GHWF varied non-significantly. reared brinjal, cucumber, French bean, lettuce, tobacco, tomato plants mass production Among them, bean tobacco were be best host based (37.2%). period 26.4 27.3 days plants, variations being non-significant. maximum adult cucumber (8.0 host, ratio 5:1, 10:1, 20:1, 40:1 80:1 revealed rate 61.2 95.0% recorded host–parasitoid proportion 20:1 minimum 80:1. total non-significantly among all proportions (15.1–15.4 (6.5 days), 5:1 (6.2 10:1 (6.1 respectively. Conclusion This study suggests augmentative control under polyhouse conditions appears an effective strategy this economic pest.

Low levels of mitochondrial DNA and symbiont diversity in the worldwide agricultural pest, the greenhouse whitefly Trialeurodes vaporariorum (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae).

Trialeurodes vaporariorum, the greenhouse whitefly, is a cosmopolitan agricultural pest. Little is known about the genetic diversity of T. vaporariorum and the bacterial symbionts associated with this species. Here, we undertook a large phylogeographic study by investigating both the mitochondrial (mt) diversity and the infection status of 38 T. vaporariorum collections from 18 countries around...

Resistance of tomato genotypes to the greenhouse whitefly Trialeurodes vaporariorum (West.) (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae).

The greenhouse whitefly, Trialeurodes vaporariorum Westwood, is the most common and abundant whitefly in Argentine horticultural greenhouse crops, especially in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum). Resistance in some wild tomato relatives, such as S. peruvianum, S. habrochaites and S. pennellii to the greenhouse whitefly has been described. The Mi gene confers effective resistance against several spe...

The suitability of biotypes Q and B of Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius) (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae) at different nymphal instars as hosts for Encarsia formosa Gahan (Hymenoptera: Aphelinidae)

Encarsia formosa Gahan (Hymenoptera: Aphelinidae) is a solitary endoparasitoid that is commercially reared and released for augmentative biological control of whiteflies infesting greenhouse crops. In most areas in China, the invasive and destructive whitefly Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius) (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae) biotype Q has replaced B. tabaci biotype B and has become dominant between the two. A...

تأثیر رژیم غذایی و مدت ذخیره‌ سازی بر طول عمر و کارایی زنبور پارازیتویید Encarsia formosa Gahan

Regarding the importance and high potential of Encarsia formosa Gahan (Hymenoptera: Aphelinidae) for control of the greenhouse whitefly, Trialeurodes vaporariorum Westwood (Homoptera: Aleyrodidae), the effect of different diets and storage of the parasitoid at low temperatures on its longevity and efficiency was studied. The average longevity of the parasitoid on different diets including honey...

Pathogenicity of Two Species of Entomopathogenic Nematodes Against the Greenhouse Whitefly, Trialeurodes vaporariorum (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae), in Laboratory and Greenhouse Experiments.

The greenhouse whitefly Trialeurodes vaporariorum (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae) is a polyphagous pest in greenhouse crops. The efficacy of two entomopathogenic nematodes (EPN), Steinernema feltiae and Heterorhabditis bacteriophora, as biological control agents against T. vaporariorum was evaluated using two model crops typical of vegetable greenhouse productions: cucumber and pepper. Laboratory test...
